If you are in need of or wanting to boost your immunity, make a pitcher of Honey Lemon Ginger Turmeric Bomb Cocktail with easy-to-find ingredients, many of which you may already have at home. If you are able to use fresh ginger and turmeric, all the better. If not, substitute 2-3 frozen ginger cubes or 3 crystallized ginger pieces (found in spice aisle) and 2 tsp powdered turmeric. These ingredients are loaded with anti-inflammatory properties.
INGREDIENTS:
large piece of fresh ginger, peeled, rinsed and roughly chopped (or frozen ginger)
large piece fresh turmeric, peeled, rinsed and roughly chopped (or 2 teaspoons turmeric powder)
1/4 cup raw local honey
3 cups water
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 to 3 lemons)
2 ounces tonic
stevia, agave, or cane sugar to taste
1 oz Vodka (optional/serving, and only if you are feeling well. Add before serving.)
DIRECTIONS:
Blend ginger, turmeric, and squeezed lemon and pulp in blender. In a medium size pot, bring 3 cups water to a boil. Add blended ginger, lemon and turmeric then remove from heat. Pour in the raw honey and sweetener, if desired, and stir to dissolve. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
Refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours. then strain, if desired, discarding solids. Store in airtight container for up to 2 weeks. To serve, stir mixture as turmeric and honey tend to settle to bottom. To enjoy as a tea, for each serving, warm 3/4 cup in pan and add 1/4 cup of additional water. To enjoy as a cocktail, pour turmeric mixture over ice three-fourths full, then add tonic water, serve and enjoy!
